Early Spring prespawn activities

I am sure that you have heard it a thousand times before. Fishing is about being in the right place at the right time. Well, it couldn't be more true than in the spring time.

I don't know what it is about water temperature in the spring that will attract Bass to a certain place but when you find it you can go there year after year and they will be there waiting for you. There is something magnetic about these places on a lake that you are about to discover. So lets go fishing!

Do you remember in part one that we are suppose to go north into a creek because the water is exposed to the sun longer and warms faster there? When I find a place like this in the Spring my blood starts to boil.

Within every Creek there are a series of smaller run ins that form the creek. These little fingers running in are the places that you are looking for. Always go to the back end of the inlets first, in the spring.

Spinner baits are always a good first choice in these places as well as a jerkbait. Worms are OK but I prefer a Jig and pork rind.

Whether Fishing a tournament or just fun fishing. The best way to put the maximum number of bass in the boat is to run and gun. That is to use the big motor to run to each and every inlet that you can find. Just remember which ones that gave up fish so you can return there again. By using this technique you can quickly fill your limit and sometimes pick up a kicker on the return go around.

Within each finger always double check your water temperature gauge on your depth finder. The magic number is 58 degrees. If you find 58 degree water I promise you that your going to catch fish there.

So we have northern warming water, plenty of opportunity and the right baits. Man, I am chomping at the bit just thinking about it! Keep your hooks sharp and your line new so you won't let a big ole bucket mouth break off and get away, like I did.

If anyone has a new or unusual way of calling up Large Mouth Bass in the early spring we would like to publish your ideas here at Anglers Kit n Kaboodle. Just send you thoughts to http://www.anglerskitnkaboodle.com/contact_us/
